{"id":97625,"date":"2020-03-16T15:47:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T14:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.metashare.com\/?p=97625"},"modified":"2023-08-28T09:40:54","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T07:40:54","slug":"16-march-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/metashare.com\/en\/release-notes\/16-march-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"16 March 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Open Office documents in read-only mode, set preferred application to open<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n<!--noteaser-->\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open Office documents in read-only mode:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When users&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/usermanual\/how-to-open-a-document\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open Office document<\/a>, in most cases, they just want to read the content of the document and not risk that the built-in auto-save functionality in Office accidentally saves a new version of the document. Therefore we now open all Office documents in read-only mode. To edit a document users will:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Desktop App \u2013 click on an \u201cEdit Document\u201d button displayed on the message bar on the top of the document:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"529\" height=\"28\" src=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1076.png\" alt=\"Click on an &quot;Edit Document&quot; button, to edit the document\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1076.png 529w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1076-300x16.png 300w\"><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the browser: click on an \u201cEdit Document\u201d function in the toolbar:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"332\" height=\"159\" src=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1074.png\" alt=\"Click on an &quot;Edit Document&quot; function in the toolbar, to edit the document\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1074.png 332w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1074-300x144.png 300w\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to set preferred applications to open documents in:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To make it easier to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/usermanual\/how-to-open-a-document\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open documents<\/a>, in your preferred application (e.g. to always open Office documents in the Desktop App instead of the browser), we have added a personal preference, per browser session, so that you can have different preferences on your laptop as opposed to your mobile device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When clicking on a document, it will always open in your selected default application (if no selection is made, it will open in the browser).<br>If you instead mark a document and click on the \u201cOpen in\u201d function in the tool bar:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"95\" height=\"38\" src=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1078.png\" alt=\"MetaShare's &quot;Open in&quot; function\"><br>You get the option to choose which application to open the document in and if you mark the checkbox, MetaShare will remember your preference.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"394\" height=\"181\" src=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1077.png\" alt=\"MetaShare's &quot;Open in&quot; dialogue window\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1077.png 394w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1077-300x138.png 300w\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able to access MetaShare from Microsoft Teams web app:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previously, you could only&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/faq\/how-do-i-connect-a-metashare-workspace-to-a-channel-in-teams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">access MetaShare, from a tab in a team\u2019s channel<\/a>, when using the Microsoft Team\u2019s Desktop app. We have now also made it possible to access MetaShare from a tab in Teams when using the Microsoft Team\u2019s web app:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1556\" height=\"534\" src=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084.png\" alt=\"Access MetaShare from Microsoft Teams web app\" srcset=\"https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084.png 1556w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084-300x103.png 300w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084-1024x351.png 1024w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084-768x264.png 768w, https:\/\/metashare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-1084-1536x527.png 1536w\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased reliability when more than 500 documents match a search query:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you conduct a free text search and there are more than 500 results that match your query, SharePoint search will just retrieve the 500 most relevant documents related to your query. If you conduct a subsequent document filtering on your search results, MetaShare will just be able to show the documents that match the combined results among these 500 most relevant documents, even if there might be more documents in SharePoint that match the combined query. When conducting a free text search, we now also use search for subsequent filters, enforcing that the retrieved documents always show the correct results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search box enhancements:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the previous MetaShare release we made it possible to edit the search-phrase of a conducted search, by moving back the searched phrase to the search box when removing a search. In this release we clear this search-phrase if a user&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/help.metashare.com\/en\/usermanual\/how-to-unfilter-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clears all filters<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improved error message if SharePoint is throttled:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If SharePoint, for some reason, is throttled, we now show this message: \u201cSharePoint is not available due to high load. Please try again in a few minutes.\u201d<br>Instead of the earlier generic message: \u201cSomething went wrong.
